Longsys WM8500 chip doubles SSD capacity with compression

Longsys unveiled the WM8500, a 5nm Storage Processing Unit that provides up to 2:1 in-memory lossless compression. The chip supports single-drive capacities up to 128TB, effectively creating a virtual 256TB SSD at a lower cost. This addresses rising NAND flash costs by doubling usable storage without additional hardware.
