New Classical Attack Weakens RSA Security

Researchers have found a classical computing method that lowers RSA's effective security to an unacceptable level, a faster break than previously seen. The attack poses little immediate practical threat except in edge cases, and even against deprecated 1024-bit keys it needs more computation than brute force. Practical quantum computing remains years away.
