The Commerce Department ordered Anthropic to deny access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 to foreign nationals worldwide. Anthropic disabled both models for all users, including citizens, leaving only Claude Opus 4.8 running. It marks the first US use of national-security export controls against a commercial AI model.
