Merck Acquires Silence Therapeutics for $1.3 Billion

German pharmaceutical company Merck agreed to acquire U.K. biotech Silence Therapeutics for about $1.3 billion in cash. The deal offers shareholders $20 per unit and is slated to wrap up during the first three months of 2027, pending regulatory approvals and shareholder consent.
