NITI Aayog Launches Data Centre Framework

On October 14, 2026, NITI Aayog released a Data Centre Evaluation Framework asking the Centre to establish a centralised audit mechanism with MeitY as the nodal ministry. The document requires states to publish a State-wise Data Centre Approval Matrix covering fees, processing times and escalation officers. It also mandates efficiency assessments for power, water and carbon usage against BIS standards.
