PlanetScale introduced instant deployments for eligible deploy requests, reducing schema deployment runtime to near-instant. The opt-in feature requires changes that qualify for MySQL INSTANT DDL, including ALTER TABLE statements and optional table or view operations. Online DDL remains the default strategy.
