Crosstool-NG builds cross-compilation toolchains for different target architectures. The author used it to compile software for a MIPS CPU on a 3D printer. The toolchain required specific configuration for the nan2008 convention and mips32r2 instruction set. The resulting toolchain compiled Busybox and a text editor successfully.
