Used Waymo robotaxi batteries become backup storage for power grids

Waymo and B2U Storage Solutions signed a strategic supply agreement on June 4 to repurpose used robotaxi batteries for stationary energy storage. Thousands of retired Jaguar I-Pace and Zeekr van batteries will be installed in grid storage projects. The partnership aims to deliver hundreds of megawatts of storage capacity to power grids in California and Texas. Freeman Hall, CEO of B2U, stated the company captures full residual value from retired EV batteries.
