Microsoft opens local AI to Nvidia GPUs on Copilot+ PCs

Microsoft is now allowing Nvidia GPUs to run local AI features previously locked to Copilot+ PCs with neural processing units. The change removes the NPU requirement for certain AI capabilities, expanding access to machines with discrete graphics hardware. Copilot+ PCs launched June 18, 2024 with mandatory NPUs, 16GB RAM, and SSD storage.
