Edison Diesel-Electric Pickup Tows 8,000-Pound Airstream

Edison Motors' ReCharger prototype, a 1995 Dodge rebuilt with electric axles and a Cummins R2.8 diesel generator, passed safety checks and towed an 8,000-pound Airstream on public roads. With a 60 kWh battery it pulled the camper about 75 miles. The Canadian company now plans to sell Edison-branded series-hybrid pickups after its kit plan hit legal problems.
