Sakana AI Hires Deep Learning Pioneer Schmidhuber

Tokyo-based Sakana AI has appointed Jürgen Schmidhuber, credited with 1991 deep learning techniques and 1990 world models work, as Chief Scientific Advisor. He will help steer Sakana's new RSI lab, which aims to build a self-reinforcing research loop that makes machines smarter. Sakana says his ideas shaped its Darwin Gödel Machine and The AI Scientist projects.
