Samsung Heavy Industries plans to commercialize a floating datacenter by Q2 2028. The purpose-built vessel will use seawater cooling and support 50 MW of compute. Partners include Capital Clean Energy Carriers and Lloyd's Register. A rival Japanese partnership of Mitsui OSK Lines and Hitachi targets 2027 using existing ships.
