Samsung to Charge for SmartThings API Access

Samsung will start charging $5 per month to non-commercial individual developers for SmartThings API access from October 2026, confirmed in June. Korean media reports Samsung is also weighing fees for organizations like energy companies and hotels. Regular home users of the SmartThings app are unaffected. SmartThings has over 460 million registered users.
