Xbox lays off Gears of War: E-Day story director

Microsoft laid off Juan Vaca, story director on Gears of War: E-Day, barely two weeks before the game's 6th October release. Vaca joined The Coalition in 2022 and confirmed the cut on LinkedIn. The layoff came as part of 268 Xbox job losses that also moved Rare and World's Edge under Activision, merged Playground and Turn 10, and pushed Ninja Theory toward closure.
