Rhode Island Sues Meta Over Scam Ads

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha sued Meta Platforms on Thursday for allegedly tolerating billions of dollars in scam advertising across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The lawsuit cites internal documents showing Meta displays around 15 billion higher risk scam ads daily and earned roughly 10% of its 2024 revenue from fraudulent products.
