Crypto suffered 247 security incidents in the third quarter, losing $1.26 billion, per CertiK. September was the worst month of 2026 with 99 incidents and $768.5 million stolen. Year-to-date losses reach $2.68 billion. The hacks persist even as bitcoin closed the quarter up 40% and ETF inflows surged, with on-chain insurance coverage shrinking 20.2% to $130.2 million.
