Germany's Federal Ministry of Finance has drafted a proposal to apply a 25% flat-rate tax on cryptocurrency trading profits starting January 1, 2027. The change would apply only to assets acquired after that date, with earlier holdings grandfathered under current rules. Banks and platforms would begin withholding the tax automatically from 2028.
