Scientists Capture Bee Stinger Pumping

Australian researchers published Monday in PNAS that a bee stinger uses a dual-piston mechanism to pump venom independently after detaching from the bee. Lead author Fiorella Ramirez-Esquivel notes the findings could inspire new medical devices and micro-pumps requiring continuous liquid flow.
