Google Watermarks AI-Designed Proteins

Google researchers have developed a method to watermark proteins created by AI design tools, embedding a detectable signature in the amino acid sequence. The technique aims to help biosecurity experts trace synthetic proteins back to their originating software, addressing concerns that the same tools used for beneficial enzymes could be repurposed to create toxins or modify viral proteins.
