NewOrbit raises $18.5M for VLEO satellites

NewOrbit raised $18.5 million in Series A funding to build satellites for very low Earth orbit, a band ignored for 60 years due to atmospheric drag and corrosion. The startup developed an air-breathing propulsion system that harvests atmospheric particles as fuel, enabling five-year operational life. Its first commercial satellite, NEO-1, launches in 2028.
