Introducing Meerkat: an experiment in global consensus

Cloudflare's Research team built Meerkat, a distributed consensus service powered by the QuePaxa algorithm from EPFL. Unlike Raft, QuePaxa allows all replicas to write simultaneously without timeout-based leader elections. Meerkat manages control-plane state across Cloudflare's 330+ global data centers and will be the first industrial deployment of QuePaxa at global scale.
