Scottish AI project fails renewables promise

An £8.2bn AI datacentre complex in Lanarkshire, built by CoreWeave and DataVita, has no prospect of meeting its promise to be powered entirely by on-site renewables by 2030. Internal documents show the government and developers privately acknowledged a power provision issue. DataVita lacks the land and planning approvals for the claimed 1GW of renewable energy.
