Ferrite, an open-source Telegram server built in C# four years ago, began with a high-performance TCP server using SocketAsyncEventArgs, IValueTaskSource, pooling, and System.IO.Pipelines. The TCP implementation survived with few changes, but connecting actual Telegram clients required implementing MTProto, generating TL types, and dispatching hundreds of methods.
