Meta Claims AI Data Centers as Tax Experiments

Meta tells the IRS its AI data centers are experiments that could fail, letting it claim a research tax credit on chips from Nvidia and others. The credit cut Meta's taxes by $3.9bn in 2025 and $2bn in 2024, making it the largest corporate beneficiary. Its tax reserve for uncertain positions rose 45% to $18.74bn.
