Amodei Urges UN Ban on AI Bioweapons

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told the UN Security Council today that AI is the most important global security issue and urged states to start with narrow bans, including on using AI to make biological weapons. He proposed evaluation and verification systems, common testing standards, and a notification system for serious AI incidents. It was the Council's first meeting focused specifically on AI safety risks.
