EU to designate AWS and Azure as DMA gatekeepers

The European Commission will issue preliminary findings next week that AWS and Azure meet gatekeeper requirements under the Digital Markets Act. A final decision is expected by the end of 2026. Designation would impose interoperability requirements, curb customer lock-in, and ban self-preferencing, with fines up to 10% of global turnover.
