Orbital raises $5M for AI data centres in space

Orbital, a Los Angeles startup, raised a $5mn oversubscribed pre-seed round led by a16z speedrun to build AI data centres in low Earth orbit. The company plans to launch Pathfinder, a hosted GPU payload on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare in 2027, and develop Orbital-1, its first purpose-built compute satellite.
