Apple seeks US approval to buy CXMT memory chips

Apple has petitioned the Trump administration for permission to buy memory chips from Chinese supplier CXMT, which is on the US Chinese Military Company Blacklist. The company has also reached out to the Commerce Department over a month ago to secure clearance amid rising memory costs.
