SoftBank Shares Plunge on AI Slowdown Calls

SoftBank Group shares fell as much as 13% in Tokyo on Monday, their steepest drop since July 17. The decline followed weekend calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to slow AI development. The Philadelphia semiconductor index fell over 5%, with Nvidia down 3% and AMD and Micron dropping 4% or more.
