China court rules AI prompts not copyrightable

A Shanghai district court ruled that AI prompts are not copyrightable. The Huangpu District People's Court found six sets of prompts from a visual art company for Midjourney lacked originality and individuality. The court dismissed the plaintiff's claims against two defendants accused of using the same prompts.
