Hyundai closes gap with Chevy for #2 EV brand in US

Hyundai registered 4,936 electric vehicles in April 2026, up 3% year over year, while Chevy registrations dropped 36% to 5,890. The IONIQ 5 registrations rose 15%, and Chevy Equinox EV registrations fell 30%. Hyundai cut IONIQ 5 prices by up to $9,800 after the federal tax credit expired.
