BMW has started building a 1.2-mile hydrogen pipeline to connect its Leipzig assembly plant directly to Germany's public hydrogen grid. Set for completion in the first half of 2028, it will be the first car factory with such a link, letting the paint shop's high-temperature ovens run on hydrogen instead of natural gas.
