Starting July 7, all Android backup data counts toward a Google account's storage limit. Previously, most backup data was exempt. Google says the change adds about 40MB on average. Users can now choose which data and apps to back up via the backups menu. This follows Google's recent test reducing free storage from 15GB to 5GB for new accounts.
