AC makers shift production to South India

Daikin, Blue Star, LG, Carrier, Havells Lloyd, Voltas and Mitsubishi Electric have opened air-conditioner factories in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu over five years, drawn by the PLI scheme and southern demand. Sri City now hosts 10 AC manufacturers and 34 component suppliers, with combined capacity expected to reach eight million units next year.
