Meta's $2B Rivos acquisition faces layoffs and chip delays

Meta spent roughly $2 billion to acquire AI chip startup Rivos to reduce reliance on Nvidia. Six months later, over a quarter of Rivos employees who joined Meta have been laid off, and development of a chip for training Meta's largest AI models has been paused.
