Stripe buys OpenRouter for over $7bn

Stripe finalized a deal to acquire OpenRouter, an AI model router serving over 400 models and 8 million users, for more than $7bn. OpenRouter raised a $113m Series B in May 2026 at a $1.3bn valuation. The acquisition gives Stripe a neutral billing-and-routing layer for AI traffic.
