WebMCP is an open web standard that lets websites expose structured, callable tools directly to browser-based agents, replacing pixel-by-pixel guessing. Google announced the WebMCP origin trial at Google I/O 2026, and Chrome 149 shipped with it enabled for real traffic. The W3C Web Machine Learning Community Group published the specification as a draft in February 2026.
