EV theft rates far below gas vehicles

Auto thefts dropped 23% in 2025 versus 2024, the largest annual decline in 40 years. EVs and plug-in hybrids are stolen far less often than gas or diesel vehicles. The 2022-2024 Tesla Model 3 AWD had the lowest theft claim frequency at 1.0, compared to the average of 100.
