A report claims OpenAI plans to purchase Google's TPU chips to reduce reliance on Nvidia. OpenAI reportedly began renting TPUs in June 2025 and hired an engineer for optimization. The company also prepares its own Broadcom-built Jalapeño chip for deployment by end of 2026. Neither firm confirmed the deal, with price and volume undisclosed.
