Microsoft confirmed its September 2026 security updates cause Remote Desktop Services failures on Windows Server 2012 and later, as well as Windows 10 and 11. Admins report users cannot connect, and servers may hang. Microsoft provided Group Policy mitigations and suggested restarting virtual machines as a temporary fix.
