Cohere, Aleph Alpha Sign $20B Merger

Germany's Aleph Alpha signed a definitive merger agreement with Canada's Cohere on September 16, 2026, creating a $20 billion transatlantic sovereign AI company. The combined entity will operate as Cohere with headquarters in Toronto and Berlin, and more than 1,000 employees. Schwarz Group backs the deal with a $600 million Series E investment. Regulatory approval is expected by late 2026.
