Dropbox confirmed about 5,000 customer accounts were accessed between 4-21 August after hackers exploited a legacy login integration with Lenovo ID. Attackers registered Lenovo IDs with unverified email addresses, then logged into linked Dropbox accounts without passwords. Dropbox terminated affected sessions and now requires Dropbox passwords even via Lenovo ID.
