Acorn's Arthur OS introduced the first bottom icon bar in 1987, predating NeXT's Dock and Windows 95's taskbar. Former Microsoft engineer Dave Plummer said the Cairo team designed the taskbar independently. Paul Fellows, Arthur's lead, claimed NeXTstep copied Acorn's design.
