Canada real-time rail system launching Q4 2026

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne approved the legal framework for Canada's real-time rail (RTR) payments system. The bylaw and rules take effect August 24, 2026, with a Q4 2026 launch. Payments Canada has led RTR development since 2015. The system enables instant, always-on fund transfers.
