Study: Air exposure accelerates ageing in nickel-rich batteries

Researchers at Hanyang University found that storing cobalt-free, nickel-rich cathode precursors in air triggers chemical changes that significantly reduce battery lifespan. The ageing mechanism was previously overlooked. The finding identifies air exposure as a key factor in premature degradation of these battery materials.
