Van der Waals crystal mimics neurons with light-driven learning

A Sungkyunkwan University team led by Professor Taesung Kim built an optoelectronic synaptic device using a van der Waals crystal. The device mimics human neurons and synapses under optical stimuli. A single-step sulfurization process with mixed plasma configured the semiconductor materials for brain-inspired computing.
