NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will carry the first space-bound active coronagraph with deformable mirrors. The mirrors use tiny actuators to cancel starlight, improving sensitivity to exoplanets by up to 1,000 times. The telescope could directly image a Jupiter-like planet and help detect 100,000 new exoplanets.
