Firefox 157 will enable JPEG XL decoding by default on all platforms, following Nightly-only availability. The Rust-based jxl-rs decoder adds multithreaded support, matching Safari's 2023 implementation while exceeding it with progressive rendering and animation. Chrome keeps the format behind a flag.
