Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses companion app includes a facial recognition pipeline with three AI models totaling 100 MB that can detect known faces and send a notification naming them. The feature is fully coded and tested but not yet enabled for users. When activated it captures unknown faces for local storage with a 2048-dimensional facial fingerprint. The system runs on-device and does not currently identify strangers or use live enrollment data.
