IVCA Warns on Foreign VC Dominance in Irish SME Funding

The Irish Venture Capital Association (IVCA) reported that foreign venture capital accounted for 82% of total investment in Irish SMEs in the first half of 2026, a record high. IVCA chairperson Richard Watson called the levels 'flashing red warning signals,' citing over-exposure to overseas investors. Total VC funding into Irish SMEs fell 10% to €578.4m in the period, though Q2 saw 200% year-on-year growth.
